Alice Dolling is a South Australian artist currently living on Peramangk Country. She has been exhibiting in solo and group shows since 2008. She has a bachelor of visual communication (illustration) and teaches fundamental visual arts topics at Flinders University (South Australia).
Alice’s multidisciplinary work embodies an attraction/repulsion dynamic that aims to undermine representations of body, beauty and gender in social media and popular culture. Her brash and uncompromising style is recognisable across multiple media and is informed by irreverence and absurdity.
Her recent work has seen a shift toward a lighter more playful feel, featuring bright colours, plants, animals and patterns. Since becoming a mother creating work that appeals to young children as well as adults has become a primary focus in her practice.
