Sair Bean’s minimalist approach goes through phases that are visually complex and chaotic, before removing what is not essential or substantive. It is a process of evolution that can often be uncomfortable as it consists of elimination and letting go.
What is left are raw, organic lines and block colours. Focused on the simplistic quality of line, shape and non-gendered figures, Bean challenges conventional painting techniques by moving off the page and into space, time and everyday objects.
